Normally, rangers are not at the parks until Memorial Day. “In this particular situation, we need one hundred percent compliance. When we were monitoring the parks within the course of the last week, we didn’t have one hundred percent compliance unfortunately. Now I’m taking the steps, as many others are, to ensure that we have total compliance in our parks,” the Mayor explained. Wolf Administration Announces New Funding for Cleanup of Former Allison Hill Automotive Site

first_img Infrastructure,  Press Release,  Public Health Harrisburg, PA – Today, Governor Tom Wolf announced the approval of new funding through the Industrial Sites Reuse Program (ISRP) that will provide for the cleanup of 2.3 acres of the former Allison Hill Automotive site in Harrisburg, Dauphin County to provide for further development on the property for a Hamilton Health Center building addition.“This new funding is great news for the city of Harrisburg because it will transform a vacant part of the property into a new expansion for Hamilton Health Center, which means even better health and social services for Harrisburg residents,” Governor Wolf said. “Investments like these provide a significant boost to the area.”The grant will provide $911,113 to remove and dispose of soil at the site so Hamilton Health Center can construct an adjacent two-story addition to its health center. The new addition will consist of a preschool, a child day care, second-floor medical office space, and expanded parking. Hamilton Health originally moved into its Allison Hill facility in 2012 after extensive remediation and demolition work on the property that was necessary due to the numerous environmental hazards left behind by the industrial and manufacturing activities located at the site since the late 1800s. This additional funding will enable further remediation work on the property that will allow Hamilton Health Center to construct its expansion.“Environmental remediation of contaminated sites is crucial for neighborhood renewal and stimulating private investment in our communities,” said Bryan Davis, executive director for the Harrisburg Redevelopment Authority. “We deeply appreciate Governor Wolf’s announcement of this award, and our long history of partnerships with the Pennsylvania Departments of Community and Economic Development and Department of Environmental Protection.”“This project is great step in further developing the Allison Hill neighborhood,” said Dennis Davin, secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) which administers the ISRP program. “When we take steps to turn vacant lots into useful properties like medical centers, we’re strengthening the community and promoting further investment.”The ISRP provides loans and grants for environmental assessments and remediation carried out by eligible applicants who did not cause or contribute to the contamination. The program is designed to foster the cleanup of environmental contamination at industrial sites, thereby bringing blighted land into productive reuse.“Bringing vacant properties back into use, especially for an important community need like a health center, is an excellent example of the confluence of environmental protection and economic development,” said Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Patrick McDonnell. “Healthy environments and healthy communities go hand in hand, and I am glad the DEP was able to be a part of this project.”For more information about the Industrial Sites Reuse program or DCED, visit www.dced.pa.gov. La Liga: Real Madrid in sight of title after beating Alaves

first_img Loading… After restoring their four-point advantage at the top of the table, the pressure is back on Barcelona. If Barca fail to win away at Real Valladolid on Saturday, Madrid will clinch the title with two games to spare by beating Granada on Monday at Los Carmenes. Yet even if Madrid have to wait, it seems inevitable they will hoist the trophy given they also boast the superior head-to-head record against Barcelona with three games left. Madrid can afford to draw two of those, even if Barcelona manage three victories out of three. “We still don’t know what is going to happen,” said Real coach Zinedine Zidane. “La Liga is very hard and we have three finals still to go.” “We have to stay focused,” added Raphael Varane. After sacking their coach Asier Garitano last week following five consecutive defeats Alaves never looked likely to cause an upset. This loss in Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz’s first game in charge leaves them hovering above the relegation zone, only three points ahead of Real Mallorca, who have hope after their win over Levante on Thursday. Zidane will be relieved all the same, particularly as he had to do without a string of key players. Ramos and Dani Carvajal were both banned while Marcelo was injured, taking out three of Madrid’s regular back four. Eden Hazard was unable to start but came on in the second half to ease concerns about niggling problems with his ankle. A makeshift defence, including Lucas Vazquez at right-back, chalked up another clean sheet, Madrid’s fifth in a row for the first time in 12 years. It is also their sixth in eight gams since the restart. Alaves might have broke that run in the first few minutes as Joselu headed against the crossbar and Lucas Perez’s follow-up had to be cleared off the line by Varane. Eder Militao then had to make a perfectly timed challenge to prevent Perez going clear. But Madrid survived and then took the lead in the 11th minute, Ferland Mendy driving to the line and going down under the sliding tackle of Ximo Navarro, who caught him with his trailing leg. Benzema scored the penalty for his 23rd goal of the season. Oliver Burke twice caused Madrid problems with weaving runs forward before Benzema hurt his neck from an awkward fall on the stroke of half-time. Benzema was able to continue but injured referee Gil Manzano was replaced by Rodriguez Carpallo, whose first big decision was to allow Madrid’s second goal. Rodrygo did well to muscle his way through midfield before freeing Benzema, who looked offside but sped forward and side-footed for Asensio to tap in. Replays showed Benzema had timed his run and the goal stood. Is Online Video Editing the Future?

first_imgIs storing all your footage online the future of video editing? The potential is there, but can internet speeds handle the workload? The cloud has become the standard term for what is essentially just a network of servers. Many companies are now getting into hosting “cloud” services. Adobe has moved their entire Creative Suite to the Creative Cloud. However, with Adobe Creative Cloud, your computer still handles the workload. Now companies are looking into handling all your project files as well. Companies like Shutterstock, GoPro, and YouTube are all offering online video editing. The goal is to allow you to edit on one machine and easily pick up the project on another machine anywhere in the world. Here are a few online video editors already available for use.1. YouTube EditorYouTube Editor allows YouTube users to combine clips and images online. You can easily trim video, add music from the YouTube audio library, and apply certain effects. Mostly, you can just rotate clips, stabilize footage, adjust speed, color correct, add filters, and apply text. It’s an incredibly basic program, and is also the standard of online video editing. For beginners, the program is easy to learn. It’s a great stepping stone for anyone interested in learning how to edit video. With it being so easy to master, you’ll likely want more options sooner than later.2. Shutterstock SequenceSequence is an easy-to-use online video editing tool, currently only available for Chrome. The additional benefit of Sequence is the ability to easily use and purchase Shutterstock footage. Over two million Shutterstock videos and audio tracks can be dragged and dropped into the project. Users can also upload their own video and audio files, and then share with colleagues or clients for review.Sequence stands out from all these other online video editors because of the stock footage option. You can easily mix in some stock clips to enhance your project, or just solely use stock footage and then just pay for the clips you use. It’s a real step forward in online video editing.3. GoPro StudioGoPro Studio is a relative newcomer to the online video editing industry. It offers the same trim and slow motion options as other online video editing programs, but they are specific for GoPro users. GoPro Studio has a built in fisheye adjustment control, time lapse assembler, and is capable of editing 3D footage from the Dual HERO System. You can also easily export full resolution stills from your video footage, and find any footage you marked with HiLight Tags.4. WeVideoWeVideo also offers the same standard options as those listed above. What makes it stand out is the ability to have multiple video editors work on a project right away; it’s really easy to set up joint projects. Users also have the ability to import footage from their Google Drive, Dropbox accounts, or social media sites like Instagram, Flickr, and Facebook. WeVideo also offers tiered services. Accounts are free up to 5GB of cloud storage. 30GB Premium accounts come in at $7 a month and 100GB Pro accounts at $20 a month. So, What About the Future? As you can see, these programs are all very limited. Outside of rearranging footage and trimming clips, you can’t go into too much detail with your video edits. If you have to make a quick video in minutes, or if you want your engaged cousin to make her own slideshow, then these online video editors are fantastic. Beginners can easily use these online editors for simple projects. Now, back to our original question. Are online video editors the future? Yes. Especially if companies like Adobe figure out how to manage all your footage. If Adobe Creative Cloud finds a way to let Premiere Pro and After Effects use online footage, there will be a huge shift in the industry. Same goes for Apple and FCPX.Currently only massive studios and production houses can handle online video editing internally, on their own servers. If it becomes universal, sharing projects with other video editors or clients will save so much time. No more exports of half-finished projects, no more mailing hard drives, no more hassle. The problem with this are the massive files sizes. Editing 4K footage online is near impossible as is. Heck, most computers struggle editing 4K footage. And 4K footage is just the beginning. RAW files, layers of complex animation and graphics, and any other massive file type will bottleneck the internet speed. Once someone figures out how to compress these files, we will see some tremendous advances in online video editing.Want more on video editing? (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)Louisville has released a number of interesting helmet designs over the last few years, but perhaps no lid was better received than the red-on-black chrome version that debuted in 2013. Since it’s the offseason (and we have to pass the time in some way), we figured we’d show you a custom helmet recently made by the guys over at JVince Custom Lids. It’s the same design, but it instead features a black cherry base. Needless to say, it’s clean. Check it out:Louisville fans – would you support the team wearing these at some point in 2015?last_img read more
