Kewell given Watford role

first_img The 36-year-old will take care of Watford’s Under-21 side in the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South and the club’s sporting director Luke Dowling is pleased to have the FA Cup and Champions League winner on board. “We are delighted that Harry has agreed to join us as our new Under-21 coach,” he said. “Harry enjoyed an extremely successful career as a player, and he now has a proven track record when it comes to working with and nurturing gifted young footballers. “His knowledge and experience will be of great benefit to the club’s youth setup as a whole, and the talented players we have within our Under-21 group.” Watford have been busy in the transfer market since gaining promotion back to the Premier League, adding the likes of Sebastian Prodl, Matej Vydra, Etienne Capoue, Valon Behrami and Miguel Britos to their ranks. The Australian international retired last year after a short spell with Melbourne Heart, now Melbourne City, and embarks on his first major coaching role with the newly-promoted Hornets. Kewell has established his own youth academy back in Australia, where he also represented Melbourne Victory after leaving Europe following a stint with Galatasaray. Appiah reveals programme for World Cup qualifiers

first_imgGhana coach Kwesi Appiah revealed his final training plans for June’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan and Lesotho.The Black Stars will start non-residential camping in Accra on 27th of May, 2013.The team will fly out to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 30th May where they will be camping until 5th June when they arrive in Khartoum for the Sudan game.They will then travel to Johannesburg on 9th June and they will train in the South African capital for four days before departing to Maseru for the match against Lesotho.last_img
