COSTA MESA, CA Zoe Kazan Falls In Love In the mood for a quirky romantic comedy? Broadway vet and Ruby Sparks writer/star Zoe Kazan is bringing the world premiere of Trudy and Max in Love to South Coast Repertory’s Julianna Argyros Stage. Kazan’s play centers on Trudy, a 20-something young adult fiction writer (Aya Cash) who strikes up an unlikely relationship with Max, a 30-something celebrity novelist (Michael Weston). See the love story unfold January 5 through 26. View Comments PHILADELPHIA, PA Miss Daisy Drives to Philadelphia Screen actor Johnnie Hobbs Jr. is taking the wheel! The Twelve Monkeys alum will strike up an unlikely friendship with actress Wendy Scharfman as the cantankerous Daisy Werthan in this new mounting of Driving Miss Daisy at the historic Walnut Street Theatre. The revival of Alfred Uhry’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1987 drama will cruise Philly from January 14 through February 2 before hitting the road on tour. Buckle up! NASHVILLE, TN Football and Shakespeare Collide Here’s something you don’t see every day—a Heisman trophy winner and NFL star reciting Shakespeare! Former Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George will tackle (get it?) the title role in Othello at the Nashville Shakespeare Festival. See George face off with Nathaniel McIntyre as Iago and Laura Crockarell as Desdemona in the new production, playing January 9 through February 2 at Belmont University’s Troutt Theater. JUPITER, FL One Singular Production Josh Walden, who appeared in Broadway’s 2006 revival of A Chorus Line, is one smart director—instead of freezing in NYC like the rest of us, he’s ventured south to helm a new production of the beloved tuner, featuring fellow Broadway vets Logan Keslar, Alex Aguilar, Jessica Dillan and more. The run kicks off on January 14 and will play through February 2 at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. God, we hope they get it (and by “it,” we mean good reviews)!
