first_img Categories: Iden News A proposed 75-percent funding increase for career and technical education in Gov. Rick Snyder’s Fiscal Year 2016 budget proposal stood out to state Rep. Brandt Iden.“Having recently had the opportunity to spend time with educators and students involved in technical education programs here in Kalamazoo County, I am convinced that expanding career and technical education will help fuel Michigan’s continued economic recovery,” said Iden, R-Oshtemo. “Filling open positions in the skilled trades is crucial to Michigan’s future. The governor’s proposal to nearly double the amount spent on the programs that train individuals to fill these roles is great and will help keep Michigan moving in the right direction.”Iden, who serves on the House Workforce and Talent Development Committee, said he is excited to work with his fellow lawmakers on issues related to career training and job growth in the state.“We’ve got to keep our foot on the gas to keep Michigan moving forward,” Iden said. “By placing a focus on job growth and filling some of the currently open positions in the state, we’ll make sure our state continues on the path to a brighter future.”### 11Feb Iden applauds emphasis on career training, technical education in Snyder’s budget recommendationlast_img
